I heart this site

In a new feature, my buddy Johnny over at Decoymusic.com and I are going to recommend some bands for the ‘other’ site. Here are John’s picks for this month. Head over to Decoy in the next 24hrs to read mine!
Flickerstick – “One of America’s first reality stars (winner of VH1’s “Bands on the Run”). The band won “Bands On The Run” and then immediately signed a hefty record contract with Epic Records. They released one of the best rock albums of the past 10 years in Welcoming Home The Astronauts, but the label failed to push it and were promptly dropped. Now after a three year absence they are back with their crowning achievement Tarantula. Their brand of pop/psychodelia is totally unique and their live show is nothing short of amazing.”
Clear Static – “The 80’s are back in a big way with this band. Their brand of 80’s new wave is similar to that of The Cure, Depeche Mode, Flock of Seagulls, or The Killers and rumor has it they are near to a deal with Lizard King Records so expect to be hearing a lot from these guys in the near future.”
Lovedrug – “Like many great bands, there is something hauntingly spiritual and honest about Lovedrug. The Ohio-based rock band delivers highbrow sound akin to Spiritualized, Sunny Day Real Estate, or Muse, crossed with the pop sensibility and arena grandeur of Queen. A unique crossbreed of art and accessibility, powerful melodies are driven by smartly crafted lyrics of truth, intrigue, love, death, and damn near everything in between.”
July For Kings – “These Ohio boys play straight forward rock and roll. Their 2002 MCA Records debut Swim was a rock and roll masterpiece, but shortly after, the record label went under. Since then the band has been consistently touring and writing and shopping material for their next release, sometime 2005.”
