Dugong on hiatus

Dugong are going on hiatus. The band wrote on their website: “Our appearance at The Out of Spite Festival on August 14th will be our last gig for some months, and quite possibly ever. Basically, for certain people in the band (ie, me!) its started to feel like a bit of a chore lately. It’s not a case of falling out of love with the music, or with the other lads in the band, but just that we started the band seven and a half years ago when we were young and carefree. Now, old, grizzled and with galloping senility it’s a question of finding a way that we can fit Dugong into our adult lives alongside our other responsibilities and interests. No-one wants to give up Dugong but neither does anyone want to do it some sort of pointless and half-arsed way, going through the motions. So, come 2006 we’ll all sit down to see if any of the energy or enthusiasm has returned to those of us that have lost it a little, and we’ll discuss how we feel and whether we’re going to be continuing or not. Watch this space.”
