Download Festival organisers have announced the first of their 2016 headliners. Iron Maiden will take the top Main Stage slot at the event on Sunday 12th June.
With the remaining headliners being announced as the week continues, the latest returning act joins a wealth of prior international superstars, including last year’s trio of Slipknot, Muse and Kiss. Iron Maiden headlined the very first Download Festival in 2003, before returning in 2007 and 2013.
Download Festival will take place at its usual venue of Donington Park, the “spiritual home of rock”, from the 10th until the 12th June 2016.
Early bird tickets for the event have now sold out, with general sale open on Friday at 9AM. More details are available on the official Download Festival website.
