Cymbals Eat Guitars share video for ‘4th of July, Philadelphia (SANDY)’

By Ben Tipple

Cymbals Eat Guitars have unveiled the official video for their new track, ‘4th of July, Philadelphia (SANDY)’. The track, as vocalist Joseph D’Agostino explains to Spin, references Independence Day 2015 and a key turning point in D’Agostino’s life. “I was in a little bit of a funk mentally, and I wasn’t really appreciating anything that was happening,” he tells the magazine, who premiered the video. “And then after that I was like, ‘Alright, I’m alive. This is cool.”

The incident saw D’Agostino jump in a car with a drunk driver, only to witness him being attacked by an angry family member of an attending child.

‘4th of July, Philadelphia (SANDY)’ is taken from the band’s forthcoming fourth LP, ‘Pretty Years’, due in September. Read more in D’Agostino’s first interview since announcing the record over at Spin, and watch the video below.
