Atlas Losing Grip call it a day and drop out of Manchester Punk Fest

By Ben Tipple

The exceptional Swedish melodic punks Atlas Losing Grip have called it a day, revealing the news via an emotional YouTube video. Alongside photos of their eleven years as a band, the video includes the following statement:

“We call it quits. Eleven long years of joy and sorrow. Too many reasons to mention really, but you should know that this big adventure was only possible because of you. Don’t mean to let you down, but we have to let go now. Won’t let the memories fade away. Much love. Atlas Losing Grip.”

The band were due to play Manchester Punk Festival later this month, with organisers having confirmed they have dropped out. “After all the celebrating of selling out the festival and getting things finalised, it seemed only fair that something would jump out and bite us,” they confirmed on Facebook. “We’re devastated to announce that Atlas Losing Grip have had to pull out of their slot at Manchester Punk Festival, for the very heavy reason of the fact that they’re breaking up.”

“Those of you following us last year know we had Atlas Losing Grip pull out then too and it’s really gutting to have this two years in a row, especially so close to the festival. Rest assured we’re working on a replacement and we’ll confirm in a few days’ time.”

“We’re as disappointed as anyone with this news, but it’s out of all our control. Stay tuned.”

Atlas Losing Grip last released the brilliant ‘Currents‘ at the start of last year, having parted ways with former vocalist Rodrigo Alfaro to be replaced by Niklas Olsson.
