The Ataris will not be naming their new record ‘So Long Historia’, but ‘So Long, Astoria’, according to frontman Kris Roe.
And in a rather bizarre way, the record is partially named after the cult movie The Goonies…
In a message posted on www.ataris.com Kris explained the reasoning behind the naming of the record, due out on Columbia in January.
“It will be called “So Long, Astoria” which is also the name of a song on the record that is based around the idea that life is only as good as the memories you make and basically states that sometimes in life you may take a lot of risks to acheive your dreams in and even in the end if you don’t necessarily acomplish all of your goals at least you will come back with all of the great memories you had in the process…
“Kind of like the kids in the movie the goonies, based in Astoria, Oregon they were going to lose everything they had and they set out to have this awesome adventure to try and make a difference in their little world and they had no idea if they would or wouldn’t come home empty handed but they went out and had the best time of their lives anyways and in the end that was all that mattered… kinda like touring, traveling or just like every day life.”
Of course other websites may try and claim they corrected our ‘second rate’ site first, but of course we wouldn’t think to rip off other sites without crediting them first like they might do…
Oooh, I’m such a bitch… ;->
