Submitted: After 12 years, Sheffield band ‘Mybe’ have finally got the break they deserve. A local businessman who has worked within the music industry for the past 20 years has decided to put his money where his mouth is and has invested a substantial amount of money into the band. Mybe have been hard at work for the past 18 months writing and recording new material in their small home studio based at singer Jim Pinder’s house. After a recent chance meeting with the local businessman, the band played him a handful of the 70 new songs they had written and a deal was offered on the spot. Mybe are now in the studio working with critically acclaimed producer Carl Bown at Tree House Studio who recently produced the top 20 album ‘One Day Son This Will All Be Yours’ by Fightstar. The band also recorded the drums at Steelworks Studio in Sheffield where both Milburn and Reverend and the Makers have recently recorded. The as yet untitled album will be completed sometime in early January 08. This will be the follow up album to 2004’s ‘Small Man Syndrome’ which was released through On the Road Records and received glowing reviews from major magazines around the world including a 4/5 review in Kerrang. Although Mybe are spending most days (and nights) in the studio, the band have one final gig of the year at The Boardwalk in Sheffield on Tuesday 11th December. This will cap off a successful past six months on the Sheffield live scene. As well as headlining many summer all-dayers at venues including The Frog and Parrot and West Street Live, the band have also sold out the small room at The Leadmill not once, but twice in the past four months. New songs and a new website will be online in early January 08.
