Weerd Science – Friends and Nervous Breakdowns

By paul

Talking of odd releases, this is exceptionally strange. Coheed and Cambria man in rap release shocker, or at least it would be if Josh Eppard hadn’t stated MC-ing was his original passion. But then I guess when C&C is your ‘day job’, anything is possible. What’s possibly weirder is that Equal Vision, primarily known for being a hardcore label, would be interested in releasing this disc – I guess the C&C links are the major reason for the link-up.

So what of ‘Friends and Nervous Breakdowns’? Well, I’m no hip hop expert so it would be impossible to do a serious review. Because of that, you can pretty much discount the 5/10 review I’ve given below – I’m not really in a position to pass too much of a comment, but seeing as though EV took the time to send this to us, the least I can do is pass some kind of comment. Eppard’s style seems to be very laid back, although his rhymes don’t ever seem to be too catchy or make much of an impact. As I said, I’m no expert, but there’s nothing here that would make me reach for the repeat button. One for hip hop or Coheed fans to maybe check out of curiousity, but I’m not sure if Mr Eppard should consider quitting C&C just yet…
