We Start Partys – EP

By Andy

Listen up WE START PARTYS, your EP might be 24 carat gold, but I will never know because the method you’ve used for hosting these four tracks is so damn unruly that I’ve only managed to download one track that works legitimately, which doesn’t audibly clip (I’m solely blaming the download service for that one mind) and ultimately doesn’t deafen me and my poor ears. Heed our warning bands: rubbish hosting of your tracks and one by one downloading forced by the provider will no doubt piss off your potential reviewer.

So anyway, on to the first/only track of this self titled EP by this Bristol five-piece. ‘Meet Me on the Dancefloor’ sounds like you’d imagine as it bodypops its way through some sort of Skittles high associated with electropop. Sitting somewhere between Metro Station and Katy Perry, it’s very catchy but also very silly, however to it’s credit it’s the sort of ear worm you’d end up humming after hearing it on constant A-list radio rotation. The harmonies are spot on, especially the use of female vocals which really bring out the pop shine, but c’mon! Partying? Dance floors? It’s just so… done?

We’d hasten to add though that this self titled EP has a fantastic pop production and it really does sound great which is indicative of a fairly good song writing talent – C’mon you’ve got potential, why hide it scrimping on the business end of things?
