Waawe – All Fabulous Things Turn Out To Happen

By

I introduce you to Waawe. They are a five piece melodic rock band from the Czech Republic. Having surfed the heights of their national scene for just over 5 years, and also made several ventures around Europe on various tours, they are now probably looking to break through to the U.K. So be nice to them…

“All Fabulous Things Turn Out To Happen,” is the bands second full length album, having had various releases with numerous small European labels. Waawe combine as many instruments as they can get their hands on towards this record which include organs, flutes, sax, keyboards, harmonique, guitars, bass and drums. It’s very much a musical master piece, with vocals laid over the top, very complex and very delicate. It’s certainly not aggressive, nor does it have a fast tempo, it’s just blissful tunes, each well matured and each standing out for many different reasons. Vocalist Tomas Billy often has hints of Blur’s Damon Albarn in his tone, unintentionally lazy and un-motivating, but at the same time intriguing, particularly in tracks like, “Tomorrow.”

Whether or not this band will impress the UK public is questionable. With so much more “Fashionable” music flooding over from the other side of the Atlantic, it’s often the case that European bands get over looked, unless they are being blasted through Kerrang! TV, or on the front of NME week in, week out. However, in search of something mellow, different with a European aura? Check out Waawe.
