Two Shot Blast – Life In Your Hands

By paul

Although they hail from Leicester, there’s a distinctive American influence to Two Shot Blast – a band that take in Thursday, taking Back Sunday and At the Drive In and yet still manage to fuse it with an odd vocal delivery which, in certain tracks (‘War of Words’ for example), sounds like a kind of rap. It may be better than Fred Durst, but it’s not something I particularly enjoy listening to. Anyway, with a very polished production and some solid, albeit generic, song structures, 2SB are an okay act, but there’s just too much here which is borrowed from other bands.

So while the aforementioned song has a very strong melody, of the six songs none standout as much as they should. It’s okay to borrow from bands, but when you have very little of your own influence to stamp on proceedings, you will always struggle. 2SB are far from a bad band, but they just don’t float my boat enough to warrant repeated listens. At the end of the day, there are better bands already doing this kind of thing.
