I’m not a fan of three chord punk rock, especially if it’s of the political variety. I just find it so basic and cliched and while I know it’s how punk rock was born, 30 years on I just don’t really find that kind of sound relevant any more. True Liberty aren’t a bad band by any means – they are technically competent and can clearly write a song – but the subject matter is older than my dad and by the end of the 11 songs it’s very difficult to establish just how many you’ve heard as they all tend to blend into one another. ‘Indecision’ is a shining light among some pretty bland tracks – if you like the genre there’s plenty to like here, but for those, like me, who think it’s all dated and dull, well, ‘This War’ is probably one to avoid.
