Trial of Fifty – Intercursus

By paul

Trial of Fifty remind me of a really average version of Gallows. The riffs may be a little more off-kilter and less melodic, but the sentiment is the same. Except Gallows do it with everything this band don’t – passion, energy, conviction and excitement. I’m sure they’re good in a live setting, but Trial of Fifty don’t hit the right notes for me on CD. I expect bands of this nature to really go for it – light the blue touch paper and then go the fuck off. Opener ‘Here We Can’t Be Heard’ takes too long to get going and when it does it just doesn’t hit hard enough. It’s not bad by any means, it’s just in a musical no-mans land – not heavy enough nor melodic enough to have a foot in either camp; instead the band kind of levitate between the two.

Average stuff really.
