Toxic Waste Monkeys – Pulling Out The Stops

By paul

Devon’s Toxic Waste Monkeys are all under 18, which makes their clever ska-punk sound all the more remarkable. The song structures belittle their relative youth and songs like ‘Average Joe’ have a distinct Britishness they actually sound a little bit like a more ‘punk’ Libertines, especially vocally. While the band have a few ska guitar upstrokes in their sound they’re more punk than anything else, especially on tracks like the meaty ‘Silver Lining’. While there’s still work to be done, the talent is plain to see and the six tracks here are well worth a listen. Head on over to myspace and check them out.
