Todos Caeran – S/T EP

By paul

Todos Caeran released this EP on cassette and as a free download, so, as I always say with free downloads, you should really stop reading this and just check it out for yourself. I’m a big fan of bands making their music available for free and I think anyone who takes the time to read reviews should do the band justice and make up their own mind.

Translated from Spanish, Todos Caerán means “All Will Fall” and comes from rare 1799 Francisco de Goya print. The main point of the print is to illustrate the common fate of all those deluded by love: all must fall and there’s a definite theme of bleakness throughout this EP. It’s aggressive and it’s raw and while it won’t be to everyone’s tastes, there’s a passion and honesty running deep throughout this record that at least attracts points. There are some bands I listen to and just don’t ‘get’, but you have to appreciate what they’re doing because they believe in it so much. Todos Caeran don’t quite fall into that category, but I certainly believe in what they’re saying. And that’s always the marker of a good band.

They claim to be influenced by the likes of Rites of Spring and Fugazi and there’s definitely a old-skool hardcore vibe to proceedings. As I say, this is available online and you can get it from here – http://www.mediafire.com/?ywzuenmtghj It’s well worth a listen.
