Threshold Shift – Promo

By paul

Why do bands continue to peddle third-rate Blink 182 ‘Dude Ranch’-era clones? Threshold Shift are quite franly crap, a band that have absolutely nothing going for them whatsoever. They sound like a poor man’s Diesel Boy singing early Blink songs, except without the catchy melodies or pop hooks. Infact there’s very little to actually get excited about here at all. Sure the band can play, but within about 30 seconds of each track starting I was reaching for the skip button – there’s just nothing memorable on offer here at all. The lyrics are cliched, the guitar riffs borrowed and the sound is something more akin to 1998 than 2005.

Threshold Shift are the kind of band that you see every week in your local pub – playing to family, friends and the proverbial one man and his dog. There’s nothing new, exciting or fresh about this band at all. If you link your music cliched, both lyrically and musically, and unoriginal, then look no further. As an amusing side note, this CD has “management” details scrawled all over it – why any band at this level needs a manager is beyond me. Perhaps they should focus more on writing good songs rather than becoming famous.
