I can see why the press release describes this band as like Bloc Party and The Automatic, because the guitars sound like the former and the dual vocal style sounds a little like the latter. I’m not completely sold on the vocals – they sound badly recorded compared to the instrumentation to me – but the first track ‘Romantic’ has a fun riff which, while getting recycled to death, has that foot-stomping thing going on which makes it a decent listen. ‘With Loaded Guns’ is very similar in style too, all jangly guitars and shouty vocals, but again in a decent way. Fierce Panda have picked this band up so expect bigger things – although I’m not sold they’ll make the same impact as the bands they’ve been compared to.
