There For Tomorrow – S/T

By paul

Recent Hopeless signings There For Tomorrow remind me a lot of Cartel. Perhaps a slightly rockier Cartel, but there’s more than a little Will Pugh in the vocals. Certainly if you like Cartel I think you’ll like this lot too. I’m quite conscious I’ve compared them to the same band three times in the space of as many sentences, so I shall refrain from any other lazy remarks. This 7-track EP is energetic and melodic, if a little unoriginal. It’s one of those records that fits into the ‘it sounds the same as a lot of bands but is pretty good for what it is’ genre.

‘Pages’ is one of the best songs here and, I gather, the track which is helping stir up some buzz in their homeland. “Addiction and Her Name’ is a track which will be familiar to those who heard the ‘Pages EP’, while ‘No More Room To Breathe’ and ‘Waiting’ are good, solid examples of slick pop rock songs. There’s nothing to write home about, but they’re better than a lot of similar bands doing the rounds at the minute.

There For Tomorrow are well worth checking out, just don’t expect a life-changing experience when listening.
