The Worst Story – 2-track demo

By paul

I swear this is the last two-tracker I ever review. And that’s a promise. Hailing from Basingstoke, The Worst Story actually have a hell of a lot of promise. There’s an underlying dark tone to the two songs on offer here, but the guitars sound nice, the structures are solid and the choruses are nice and catchy, suggesting TWS could well forge themselves a nice little niche in the ‘scene’. I don’t have track names sadly, but the first song builds up rather nicely into a lovely catchy faster part which sounds rather delicious; a little Alkaline Trio meets Face To Face perhaps. Not the finished article by any means, but highly impressive nonetheless. The second track isn’t quite as strong, but maintains plenty of promise. Again there’s plenty of guitars in the build up and a rather nice explosion when the verses and chorus come round. One of the best unsigned band’s demos I’ve heard in a while, so I’m certainly looking forward to what the band come up with next.
