The Twilight Skyline – We’re only here for the dancing

By paul

There’s nothing worse than hearing badly out of tune vocals and a mish-mash of uneccessary guitar riffs in a different key. Actually, there is something worse – that feeling when you hear the two together. Sadly for The Twilight Skyline they’ve put so much effort into being Taking Back Sunday they’ve neglected how to structure songs and play their own instruments. ‘…and there…’ (this song title is way, way too long) is painfully bad – drawn out to over five minutes with vocals and guitars that clash more than a trainspotter at a fashion show.

Whilst I hate making silly scenester comparisons, this really does wreak of the old jaunty mesh cap and sweatbands scenario – a band probably more interested in how they look than what they sound like. At least I hope that’s the excuse for coming up with a bland, uninspiring and exceedingly generic record like this. Post-hardcore is definitely dead – especially when it’s done as badly as this.
