The Stiletto Formal – This is my Boomstick

By paul

Can reviewers en masse be wrong? According to the press release accompanying this EP, the likes of Alternative Press and ap.net have lauded TSF as the next big thing, with comments ranging from ‘mesmerizing’ to ‘indie sex-core’, a genre which I have a feeling may catch on pretty quickly… Anyway, with the critics literally drooling over them, can they all be wrong? Quite simply, no. Taking influence from Blood Brothers and Tilly and the Wall, TSF rock like the proverbial. There’s kitschy dance bits – without resorting to any of this ‘nu-rave’ bollocks, and a rock and roll swagger that belies their relative youth. While a very short offering into what this band are like, ‘This is my Boomstick’ offers up melodic quirks and sonic booms, showcasing a band I think we’ll be hearing more of in the future. So are the critics always right? Well this time they most certainly are…
