This is dire, dire turgid pub rock with a passing nod to new wave and glam rock. The singer can’t sing, the guitar sounds like someone playing along to a ‘teach yourself Bryan Adams’ DVD and the drumming is just boring. Even the album art is terrible and cliched (oh look a crying woman, with make up on her cheeks).
You’d expect (and forgive) it from a younger band on their first EP, you’d look for the positives and hope they matured like a fine wine. These chaps though, include such musical luminaries as ‘Andy from Mamjamas’ and ‘John and Grim from UK House act Jump’. They’ve also been around for 7 years and this is album number 3. When some solid gold acts are struggling to finance album number one, its a tragic waste of recording time.
Clint Boon has to take some responsibility, labelling this ‘some of the best new punk rock in Britain today’. It’s barely rock, let alone punk and it’s not new. Your dad’s band did better than this in the 70’s.
