‘Asleep on the Carousel’ is a very fair listen; six tracks of twisting and battering hardcore in the vein of Botch or a more melodic Converge. I couldn’t say they’re the best band that’s ever attempted this genre of music, but they’ve had a really good stab at it and are both energetic and passionate in equal measures. These guys sing and they mean it.
The EP races through and is finished in the blink of an eye. ‘The Greek Mythology of John V’ manages to perfectly mix riffs and breakdowns with a good sense of melody and references Dillinger Escape Plan with the pure chaos of it all. Unsettling and unpredictable, it’s all underpinned with melodic vocals which make it perhaps even more odd. Still, if you like your music to be off-kilter and heavy, look no further.
