The Departed are actually pretty good at what they do. Playing a raucous brand of melodic hardcore they are both in your face and relevant. They have a sound that’s not overly aggressive or too produced and for a demo it really is a decent listen. It’s just The Departed don’t really play a style of music I listen too all that much in my spare time. And while I can’t fault them or this little EP, I just don’t think I’ll go back to this record very often. And yes, you could argue I should give this type of music for someone else to review but let’s face it, when did you see anyone but me do a review on this website?! Fans of hardcore should check The Departed out, the rest of us can probably take it or leave it.
