Compared to some of the drivel I’ve had the misfortune to have to listen to in the last day or so, The Adventures of Loki are a welcome relief. With a sound more akin to PJ Harvey fronting a Swedish rock n roll band, these guys really like to bash out a riff and hit hard with the sticks. With two female singers trading vocals with a male drummer, plus plenty of ‘borrowed’ lyrics (Jack and the Beanstalk anyone?!) it makes for a very interesting mix. It’s not groundbreaking by any means, and at just eight minutes long it’s not an overwhelming ride, but songs like the EP’s title track have the ability to creep inside your hand and have you tapping along in no time. And that’s no bad thing…
