Tellison – Reader 7″

By paul

I don’t actually own a record player, so reviewing vinyl is always a difficult, nigh impossible, task. However, when something like a new Tellison slab of 7-inch lovelyness lands on the doormat, you put in the extra effort to give it a spin. As a result, I popped round to my uncle’s house and he allowed me several spins so I can write this review. Which was nice. Tellison have been kicking about for a long, long time now and, like a fine wine, they seem to be improving with age. ‘Reader’ is a fine, fine track and hopefully a positive sign of what is to come. I’ve read comparisons to Idlewild and Death Cab, and while they’re not a million miles away, Tellison have the charm to make their own impact. All three songs here are good, making this little limited edition record worthy of your hard earned pennies. For the record, my uncle also quite liked Tellison. His actual words were, “this actually sounds quite good.” So there you have it. Tellison – even your uncles approve.
