Tallulah Fix – Tallulah Fix

By Andy

TALLULAH FIX have a fantastically rich sound; so much so it’s hard to believe this is their first EP. Three well-formed songs of straight up classic rock with a modern twist. They’ve self-proclaimedly invented their own genre, a cross between blues and grunge – ‘blunge’. It works, and it works well with the whole sound seeming very much unified. They’ve got style, and while the second two songs don’t live up to the absolute swagger of ‘AWOL’, they’ve got a promising sound.

Perhaps the EP could have featured more songs to demonstrate the range of their capabilities; though the songs themselves are long (‘Serotonin Sickness’ clocking in at over six minutes), an EP containing three tracks just doesn’t feel enough. Of course this can hardly be a criticism when the listener is left wanting more! While they’ve certainly got talent and a great sound, it’s not something unheard of before. Maybe this EP doesn’t really break any new ground, but there’s a hell of a lot of rock ‘n’ roll packed into these three songs, and more than enough to take a listen.
