Stokoe – The experiment has been a complete and utter failure!

By paul

Let’s see if Ian can actually like a record today…

Hmm… Stokoe. Signs aren’t good.

This is such a non-event of a record. Pop-punky tunes with some decent, if unspectacular, female vocals. The lyrics are clichéd, tiresome and utterly bland and the musicianship is less spectacular than the lovely lovely pr would have you think. Not even the involvement of Frankie Stubbs on a couple of tracks can help things, though his vocals at least perk up some interest. Seeing as the music is such a non-event, let’s move on to more fun things:

The artwork. And I use this term so loosely it’s as loose as a particularly loose.. Err.. Noose? Yes, so this ‘art’ was either concocted by a blind chimp with AIDS, is some kind of joke that has sailed over my massive head or was created before the days of Photoshop. Because if this is a serious effort then there is little hope for the human race. Not only is he credited on the back of the album – you can email him. Presumably to send him a well done card and congratulate him for being a ‘special’ boy. It’s THAT bad.

“Your looks are so misleading. I’m internally bleeding.”

Jesus today’s a bad day.
