Still Dreaming – Demo 2009

By paul

Despite not really being the heart of the UK hardcore scene, Kent seems to be throwing out a surprising amount of promising new bands at the moment. Still Dreaming are among them, and their first demo suggests a band that have been at it a fair bit longer than they actually have.

Three tracks of trashy progressive hardcore LATER, including one with some guest vocals from It Prevails‘ Ian Fike, and it becomes apparent that Still Dreaming‘s gruff and barky sound has room for improvement. That said, there’s definitely something about the band to make you take another listen, and though they need to dig a bit deeper into a niche to set them apart from the droves of other bands doing a similar thing at the moment, you feel that with enough hard work, they might just be able to do that.
