Sparks The Rescue – Eyes To The Sun

By paul

Does the world need another band like Sparks The Rescue? No. But if you like Mayday Parade and We The Kings then these guys are also pretty essential listening. There’s nothing new and no wheels re-invented, but Sparks The Rescue do everything a band of this type should do. ‘My Heart Radio’, ‘Pine Tree State’ and ‘Skeleton’ are all catchy songs that will get stuck in your head for hours. The sad thing is this record is as generic and predictable as they come. There’s the token slowie (‘Hello Mexico‘) and the production is way, way too slick at times. I guess all the good pop-punk bands are polished, but there are too many layers at times. Still, I can see this band having a little success and there are far worse bands out there than this.
