Solutions – Before The Roars

By paul

Sometimes I’m totally convinced there’s something in the water in Cardiff. So many great bands appear and cross the bridge over time that it’s easy to lose track. Three piece Solutions aren’t falling among the ranks and following what you may have come to expect from Sotuh Wales from the likes of Lostprophets or Funeral for a Friend, but their gritty and energetic punk found on debut album ‘Before the Roars’ is full of potential and shoutalong choruses.

Opening brace ‘Fighting Tigers’ and ‘The Rest Will Follow’ definitely land the hardest punch, and from that point on there’s a few points where the record plods along abit and the band could have explored a few more adventurous ideas, but those moments are equally match by big choruses and well thought out lyrics.

Fans of bands like Hot Water Music and Strung Out have plenty to find here, and after a few listens the record feels familiar- it’s a strong debut from a promising band who’ve been marvellously kind and put the whole thing up for free download on their Last.FM page.
