Rue The Day – The Machine

By paul

‘The Machine’ is pretty much solely about the riffs. While the vocals are pretty good – they remind me a bit of Bullet For My Valentine or Trivium – RTD really stand out when it comes to shredding. And when the two guitarists start peeling off lick after lick, like they do on ‘Careless Talk’ and the album’s title track, the band are at their absolute best. I can’t say I’m a huge metal fan, hence the medium-sized score, but I do know that the best bands at this level have riffs the size of a nation and Rue The Day are certainly on the right lines. Over the course of the album this does begin to get a bit dull, but at their best RTD stand out and could well make an impact if this is heard by the right people.
