If The Academy Is… were even more sickly sweet than they already are, you’d about have ROTY. The North carolina quintet aren’t a bad band by any means, but they’re a bit too saccharine sweet for me. ‘Sooner or Later’ has so many sugary hooks and harmonies it will rot your teeth, Over produced and a little too slick, it kind of sums up this record and this band. Multi-layered instrumentation probably covers up the fact this band aren’t as good when stripped down. At times they sound like Maroon 5 – and that’s the thing; more pop than punk, these kids will gain a decent pre-teen fanbase but when you reach the age of 16 you should really know better.
