Rentokill – Antichorus

By paul

Now this is a good record. Influenced by a whole range of aggressive EpiFat skate-punk bands but given their own unique twist, Austrians Rentokill race through 15 songs on this, their brand new album. Never afraid to tone down their melodies and choruses, what makes this band so good is their ability to really go at it with drums and riffs bouncing around all over the place, yet they still manage to keep an interesting vocal melody or hook-filled chorus.

‘Primetime Killers’ is a little Strike Anywhere-esque, while there are Bad Religion and Avail influences in other songs. There are a couple of weaker songs, but that is to be expected over the course of such a lenghthy album. But on the whole this is excellent, a passionate and aggressive album that is never watered down even though there are plenty of singalong moments along the way.
