Red City Radio – The Great St. Louis Split 7″

By paul

This is the third release in the Vinyl Collective split 7″ series and features US band Red City Radio alongside The Great St. Louis from Bolton. Red City radio are a great little band on this offering. It’s the first time I’ve come across them but they have this fist-in-the-air Latterman-esque vibe which sounds as fun as Hell. It’s anthemic, catchy and more energetic than a fully-charged Duracell bunny. I’ll be sure to check out more of this lot in the future. The Great St Louis describe themselves as like ‘Willie Nelson on crack’ and a little slower, more melodic, but more gruff. The vocals have a British slant to them which adds a little authenticity and the two songs on this release are both pretty good, if not really my thing. I’d give 8 to RCR and 6/10 to TGSL – making this release well worth a listen.
