I’ve never really gotten into Quietdrive before, not for any other reason than they’ve not really crossed my path. But ‘Deliverance’ ended up on my stereo and it’s actually rather good – doesn’t break much new ground but in a genre that’s becoming very tired and very cliched this release does stand out as being one of the best new releases of it’s type. Vocally QD are very impressive, as the choruses – there are plenty of them and that’s always important.
‘Daddy’s Little Girl’ is perhaps a little childish lyrically, but the first half of the album is pretty impressive, sonically at least. The title track is very strong, as is ‘Motivation’. Quietdrive kind of fit nicely between the driving rock of a band like Name Taken, with the melodies of a Jimmy Eat World and the poppy parts of an The Academy Is… ‘Deliverance’ breaks very little new ground but is a solid, and enjoyable, album nonetheless.
