Push The Ghost hail from my hometown of Grimsby and play an impassioned melodic punk rock that is based in the sound of bands such as Good Riddance, H2O, Bouncing Souls and Strung Out. I guess you could say there’s a little Gaslight Anthem in there as well, if you squint. A bit. Anyway, the boys are clearly on the rise as they’re supporting H2O in August and are starting to get some decent reviews in. And while this record is a little rough around the edges, it’s certainly passionate and has enough raw energy to stoke a few fires. ‘FNFG’ is bound to be a live favourite, and while the vocals sometimes miss the note and go off a little, it actually adds a little raw-ness and attitude which is missing from so many bands. It adds charm, without wanting to sound too twee. Push The Ghost are a good little band that will only get better – and I’m not just saying that as they’re fellow Grimbarians. Ones to watch.
