Oliver Stays – Demo

By paul

I wouldn’t say this was a particularly ‘punk’ record, but I’m reviewing it because it sounds pretty good. Oliver Stays formed in November 09 from now defunct Glasgow acts Drive By Argument and Jocasta Sleeps and sound a little bit like Biffy and a little bit like We Are Scientists. There’s a catchy vocal on each of the three songs and some pretty nifty guitar work too. There’s a hint of electronica on ‘Hours’ – dare I say it the vocals may even be a little Jesse Lacey-esque in delivery, even if the band sound absolutely nothing like Brand New at all. For a three-tracker this leaves you wanting a bit more and that is very much a good thing. Keep your eyes and ears on this lot.
