November Moment – November Moment

By paul

We’ve been literally swamped in recent weeks with bands wanting their demos reviewed, which on the one hand is excellent, but on the other has created a backlog of discs literally a mile long. Sadly, for all the demos we do receive, very few stand out. This makes bands like November Moment all the more annoying – yet another band peddling their punk rock wares. It’s not bad, it’s not good, it’s just run of the mill stuff you see performing at your local venue every week. I don’t mean to sound too harsh, after all this CD is nicely packaged and produced, but there’s nothing here that stands out at all.

There are bland vocals and predictable riffs, all borrowing from the same old bands doing the same old thing. Identity is a massively important thing for me; bands that attempt to sound like themselves and not their influences instantly score points. But during ‘Gravity’ I can hear an attempt at a Thrice-like lead guitar, even if the band themselves don’t particularly sound like Dustin and his merry men. It’s all a bit, well, average. I’m sure they’re nice guys and I’m sure they do their thing well in a live setting, but this 4-track EP does absolutely nothing for me whatsoever. Sorry chaps.
