Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you will know New Found Glory are having a bit of fun after they negotiated their way out of their major label contract. This new 6-track EP, accompanied by a stack of special vinyl releases, is coming out on Bridge 9 and is a little harder and more aggressive than we’ve known the band to be. It’s still NFG and Jordan’s vocals are at their nasal best, but it’s a little extra aggressive and a little less produced than the band have been on recent releases. It’s also pretty good work and, with the help of three cover songs, hints at the band’s early influences.
The three cover songs are really good fun. The band have made them sound like NFG songs which is no mean feat, with the Gorilla Biscuits and Lifetime songs coming out best. The fact that NFG miss out the breakdown in ‘Cut The Tension’ and the song still sounds good says it all. of the band’s three new songs, each clocks in at less than 2 and a half minutes as the riffs bounce and the drums roll. It’s impressive stuff – but then with New Found Glory do we really expect any less any more?
