Nekromantix – Life Is A Grave and I Dig It!

By paul

I can’t profess to being a know-it-all when it comes to Nekromantix, neither can I really say that I enjoy the music the band tend to play. However, one look at their haircuts on the cover and I was sold enough to give them a good chance – and to be fair ‘Life Is A Grave…’ is a decent listen; it’s a varied record with plenty of decent influences and sounds, making it interesting even on repeat spins.

I have to be fair though, Nekromantix just aren’t a band I’m going to go back to – despite the fact this is a decent enough album. The use of double-bass is an interesting addition to a well performed psychobilly sound, making the album’s title track and the highly-charged ‘Panic at the morgue’ fun and intriguing tracks. Nearly 20 years into their career and Nekromatix are still going strong and that’s testament to the quality the band clearly has – even if it’s not really my thing.
