My Turn To Kill – Kids Of Cancer

By paul

Let’s get one thing straight; the song ‘Kids Of Cancer’ is a fucking monster of a tune. While fellow Welshies The Blackout are getting a lot of attention right now, the chances are My Turn To Kill are going exactly the same way if they can continue to write to this high standard. Mixing up the kind of mainstream rock Lostprophets have cornered with the youthful screamo exuberance of a You Me At 6, the opening track of the band’s new EP is a dancefloor anthem already. And while the band don’t quite match it with the other three tracks on this release, I’m already drooling over this band.

Don’t get me wrong, the other three tracks are all great too, but it’s just the swagger of the opening song that really got me, even on first listen. ‘Save Us From Sorrow’ has a huge vocal hook and while I think the screams that litter ‘On Screen Beauty Queen’ could probably be missed out, it’s still a very good tune. Check this band out for ‘Kids of Cancer’ regardless of your musical tastes, but check this EP out as a whole and you may find one of your new favourites…
