Mr G and Rich – A Little Advice…

By paul

I can’t think of too many redeeming features that makes ‘A Little Advice On Life And How Not To Live It’ stand out from the pack. The Bowie-meets-Placebo-meets-mainstream rock sound that engulfs Mr G and Rich is a little bit average really, so while ‘The Hardcore You’ve Been Looking For’ starts things off on a decent footing, everything quickly descends into mediocrity from there. The Subways would be proud of ‘Uncomfortable Again’, while the vocals (I’m not sure if that’s Mr G or Rich) are a little odd throughout, sounding like some kind of bizarre Brian Molko/David Bowie hybrid. It’s all rather unsettling. The six tracks here last just 12 minutes, but truth be told it’s more than enough. If you like any of the bands mentioned in this review, chances are you will like Mr G and Rich a whole lot more than I do.
