There are elements of this EP which sound brilliant – there’s a bit in ‘Every Little Doesn’t Help’ (which may be about Tesco, believe it or not) that sounds like a slightly more melodic Garrison. And there’s a bit in the opening track ‘Past Tense’ where the vocals are as sweet as a nut. The rest of this EP, mind, just doesn’t consistently hit the spot. ‘Opinions’, for instance, sounds great with the vocal harmonies, but is cumbersome around the verses and almost trips over itself along the way. And while the guitar work which starts the fourth track sounds fantastic, the song itself doesn’t really float my boat as much as it should. More Amour aren’t a bad band at all, they’re just frustratingly inconsistent.
