Makeoutmusic – Infidel

By paul

At its best, ‘Infidel’ is fourteen tracks of above-average skate-punk, likened to bands such as Kid Dynamite and Bigwig. At its worst, ‘Infidel’ is a pale imitation of bands that do something innovative, vigorating and, above all, play with talent. Makoutmusic aren’t exactly a bad band, but the New Yorker’s don’t exactly stand out from the pack – anyone can do the shouty vocals and fast drums thing, but when your vocals aren’t shouty or melodic enough, and your drums and riffs sound pretty much like everyone else, you’re bound to remain in the sea of generica. Better than average, but only just.
