Lost on Landing are probably the best band of their type out there right now. With a feel good pop-punk sound perfect for the summer months, they wound like a cross between Kids In Glass Houses and Tonight Is Goodbye. Each of the four tracks here seems to hit the spot perfectly, marrying up catchy choruses with spot-on vocal melodies. It doesn’t re-invent the wheel, far from it, but LOL are easily top of the class within the homegrown pop-punk scene.
I was lucky enough to be sent ‘It’s Now Or Never’ a while back and it’s an excellent pop-punk song; catchy vocals, catchy chorus and catchy riffs equal a very catchy song. And while there’s only four songs here, each really does hit the mark and leave you gasping for more. US pop-punk bands tend to have the sound trademarked and while this is heavily Americanised ‘Sidecars Are For Sidekicks’ and the very Something Corporate sounding ‘Changing Lanes’ are up there with the best of their Yank influences.
Lost on Landing will make waves this summer, there’s no doubt about that. They’ve been bubbling under for a while now, but this will hopefully catapult them into the bigger leagues.
