I love that Deep Elm literally scours the world to find fresh, exciting new music to our ears. More often than not they get it right too. I can see why the label fell in love with this band, a group of lads from Argentina who play a brand of emo rock that references early Jimmy Eat World with latter day Foo Fighters. ‘Nightmares’ is perhaps the best example of the band with soaring vocal melodies that remind me a little of ‘Learn To Fly’ by the Foos in the chorus. Without wanting to sound xenophobic I do struggle a little with the Latin-esque vocal delivery as I feel it doesn’t flow as well as their American-sounding bretheren, but this is still a good little rock record and a solid debut. If you do nothing else, check out the aforementioned ‘Nightmares’ and ‘Saviour’, two very good tracks indeed.
