Kid, Keep Dancing – What Was I Thinking?

By paul

There’s something in the water down in Wales and Kid, Keep Dancing are the latest to come out of the principality in a bid to take over the airwaves. Kid… are from the Paige school of pop-punk – this is a record with swirling keys and synth and catchy choruses. It’s very American-sounding, but the title track is most certainly a keeper. The EP is actually a fun listen throughout and everything is very much in the right place. The vocals are solid, the synth isn’t overbearing and the band have put a lot of effort into the choruses and melodies which is the most important part of a band that plays this type of music. I’ve scored this at 3/5 because it doesn’t really showcase a band in their own skin, more a band playing music they like made famous by other bands. That doesn’t make this EP bad – far from it, at times this is really good – but I think if Kid, Keep Dancing are going to make further waves they’re going to need to pull something out of the bag. Preferably their own identity.
