Firstly, what a great name. Secondly, what a pretty decent band to boot. I’ll readily admit that Kamikaze Sperm are not the type of band I would usually choose to listen to, but I was pleasantly surprised by the ‘SBC’ EP. The songs are strong, the riffs powerful and there’s a real British slant to the vocals which leave it feeling fresh and honest – and for the type of band KS are, these are all important pre-requisites. ‘Walk Away’ and ‘War Is Waiting’ are fast and frenetic, and despite being rough (and gruff) around the edges are solid tracks in a Bouncing Souls-esque fashion. The only downside here, I would say, is the inclusion of the live tracks. Unless you have a big budget production I always feel live tracks come off worse than intended and on this occasion I feel Kamikaze Sperm are far better recorded on CD than having the live show disperse througha speaker. Still, a very good account of what they have to offer and well worth checking out.
