Jaed – Dirty Days

By paul

During ‘Gutter Girl’, I swear Aussie vocalist Vanessa Eve sounds like Avril Lavigne. It’d be unfair to tarnish the Oz popstress with the same brush as Miss L, but there are a few similarities between the two. Jaed combine poppy girly vocals with a scuzzy, yet melodic, guitar-based sound, so I guess you could easily throw a SK8er girls comparison in there. ‘Dirty Days’ is a nice enough listen – ‘Catherine’ and ‘My Way’ are relatively good tracks, but the record tends to drift off a little by the end. I can see the odd song flirting with some mainstream airplay, but I don’t think there’s too much here for Avril and co to be too worried about.
